The Circus |
As we came upon this quaint looking building with dim lights, a few wooden chairs loosely arranged around small table, it was The Circus Restaurant. At first glance, my wife was not impressed. I remember her saying, lets go somewhere else. She definitely wasn’t “feeling” this place. No bright lights with huge chandeliers or ostentatious floral arrangements. I insisted that we go and dine. One of the best food experiences I have had.
The restaurant is located in Bath, England. It is relatively easy to find once you locate the attraction known as The Circus. This historic ring of townhouses is a unique feature and quite unmissable. The city of bath is renowned for its Georgian architecture.
But this post is about an idyllic food spot. Every single meal was done to perfection. The taste was clean, refined and definitely delectable. I guess this should be expected, seeing they are listed on Michelin Guide. Our server was most honest, knowledgeable and pleasant.
Starter: Goat cheese, warm figs, toasted almonds, green beans drizzled with date syrup and a sauvignon vinaigrette.
Dessert: Can’t even remember what this was….chocolate thingy….it was just heavenly. The ice cream was so smooth and lovely.
This was really a pleasurable dining experience and one that I would do all over again. So much was the inspiration that I tried to recreate one of these dishes. Imitation is the highest form of flattery….they say.
From this point on I will tour the Michelin Starred restaurants in the UK. Whenever this lockdown lifts. Until our next adventure, bon appetite!
